Our next guest is Dr. Anita Knight Kuhnley. Anita has her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision and she is certified as a highly reliable coder of the Adult Attachment Interview. She has authored or co-authored nine books, including her most notable publication called “The Mister Rogers Effect.” She knew she had to go on a research journey to discover how Mister Rogers had such an impact on children, and how we can be the Mister Rogers in our own neighborhoods. Even though he is gone we can still keep what he stood for alive, and pay it forward.
In episode 277 of the Fraternity Foodie Podcast, we find out why Dr. Kuhnley decided to go for a PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision, what is the best part of being Associate Professor of Psychology and Counseling, who is Mister Rogers and what makes Mister Rogers special, what lessons we can learn from Mister Rogers on creating safer spaces for our children, how we can shift from breaking up with your partner to building up your partner, why speaking the language of empathy is so important, what are some science-based strategies from the neighborhood on engagement, what lessons we find on managing conflict from Mister Rogers, and how we can elevate our mood and sense of connection in as little as ten seconds. Enjoy!
