Hank Nuwer: Don’t haze the newcomers, mentor them

We’re talking to Hank Nuwer! Hank is the author of Hazing: Destroying Young Lives, Wrongs of Passage, High School Hazing, and The Hazing Reader. His blog, Hazing Prevention, is part of his website, HankNuwer.com and he now keeps a record of hazing deaths at schools since the first death in 1838. He is an emeritus professor at Franklin College and a full-time author. In this chat, we talk about Hank’s chapter in our new book, “From Letters to Leaders: Creating Impact on Your College Campus and Beyond”. His chapter is called: Don’t haze the newcomers, mentor them.

We find out Hank’s inspiration in writing it, his thoughts about the hazing cases that occurred during the pandemic, Hank’s prediction on alcohol usage and hazing for Fall 2021, what we can do to ensure that those found guilty of hazing are prosecuted, and Hank’s favorite section of his chapter. Enjoy!
