Fraternity Foodie: AFLV Central in Indianapolis

Wondering if Joe Biden is a fraternity member? The answer is…….. no. While he did hang out at Fraternity events at the University of Delaware (many of his football teammates were members), he did not join, and he didn’t drink or smoke either. Biden has a history of substance abuse in his family, which left a negative perception of things like alcohol and cigarettes. At times, he had trouble tolerating others using them around him.

So, AFLV Central this year certainly did not disappoint. The keynote presentation from Vice President Joe Biden was certainly one of the big attractions. Over 3,700 fraternity and sorority leaders were in attendance to hear Joe Biden talk about Sexual Assault Prevention and the #ItsOnUs campaign. As VP Biden said, “The only way we are going to change the culture is if we all take a stand.”

I was so busy throughout the conference making presentations (Strategies for Managerial Excellence and Hazing Prevention), as well as meeting with students and campus administrators, so I didn’t have much time to eat. However, during the Professionals’ Luncheon, Pi Beta Phi provided these delicious cupcakes. They tasted just as good as they look in the photo – I promise!
