Cassie Firebaugh's Bio

Cassie Firebaugh joins us from Indianapolis, IN and this former NFL cheerleader (Go Colts!) is no stranger to the challenges the game of life throws her way. As a busy mom of 6, business owner and entrepreneur it’s safe to say she definitely has a few balls of her own to keep in the air!

However, that very full life came to a screeching halt one evening as she experienced a stroke on her birthday that changed everything. Against the odds, 2 weeks later she had a second one. Cassie has tackled many obstacles such as living with a heart defect, single motherhood and multiple business creation and ownership. Today as her story continues she is living proof that you can turn pain and fear into power and fuel. Cassie is passionate about using her voice to inspire students to confidently stand up and use their own to speak to be heard.

Her love for all things Greek is deeply rooted in her time Indiana University-Bloomington where she was a member of the Beta chapter of Pi Beta Phi. Cassie also has served as a Panhellenic representative and is beyond excited to continue this journey. She will not only engage students with her humor and heart, but offer impactful programs for the development of empowered leaders throughout campus...and beyond.

PRESENTATION: Mirror Mirror on my phone. Real talk about how we view our bodies and the effect of social media on self-esteem

Have you ever felt like you are bobbling in the sea of comparison... perhaps overwhelmed and even drowning a little as you work to secure solid footing like a pair of stilettos in sand? Cassie will dive headfirst into this issue as she leads an honest discussion focused on the evolving standards by which we judge ourselves enhanced by social media pressures and how we can shift the focus to celebrating our own unique story through identifying our individual strengths, beauty and while at the same time championing our fellow sisters with the power of genuine, unshakable confidence.

Topics covered:
• Body Image
• Self esteem/personal growth
• Women’s issues/empowerment
• Wholeness/Wellness

Learning Outcomes:
Cassie's emotional story as a two time stroke survivor coupled with a splash of say it like it is humor will inspire you as well as provide insight as to how we all can:

• Choose to champion ourselves and others vs. the urge to compete
• Choose to be our strongest most authentic selves
• Admire another’s beauty and accomplishments without questioning our own
• Embrace the “ugly” moments and learn to look at them with new reflection as we grow
• Honor and protect our own pace and journey by learning to embrace the path we walk in our own shoes

PRESENTATION: StandBYme. Choosing action over inaction when faced with a choice and turning bystanders in moral rebels

Have you ever found yourself witnessing an event in which you have to swiftly decide whether or not you should step up or simply step away? Many are surprised to discover that moral courage is not innate and often times the urge
to do nothing is deeply engrained in us as humans. Bad things can happen when good people choose to look the other way. Let’s explore how to safely speak up, take action and empower ourselves and peers to stand not only beside others-but stand UP when a situation calls for us to use our voice to help others.

Topics:
• Decision making
• Character development
• Morality and Ethics
• Social dynamics-Empathy—>Empowerment
• Peer Pressure
• Community development

Learning Outcomes:
• Identifying potential situations where our intervention is crucial
• The difference between real fear of consequence and selfish motivation
• Managing peer pressure and conformity and how it affects our ability and responsibility to act
• Provide simple strategies and effective training for breaking the bystander

PRESENTATION: From hang outs to hook ups. An honest approach to embracing safe sexual experiences on campus and beyond

The old “first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby carriage” forgot to include one important part of the timeline-College. For the first time many young adults are free to make their own decisions-from what they eat, what time they go to bed and quite frankly…. who they might invite into theirs. Aside from the obvious opportunity to study, College is a period in life focused on self
exploration, which in many cases is not limited to brand new sexual encounters and how they can shape our mental (and physical) perception of oneself long past our graduation and into adulthood.

Topics:

• What does engaging in consensual safe sex practices mean?
• Losing the labels and stigma associated with gender roles when it comes to intimacy
• Embracing our bodies and saying no to shaming, protecting both mental and physical wellness

Learning Outcomes:
• How to have a transparent and honest discussion in regard to what is a safe and normal hookup experience in college
• Addressing the often uncomfortable taboo dialogue about sex shaming females and glorifying males and how we break the stigma
• Creating respectful boundaries on both a mental and physical level
• Strategies on to become more confident, vocal and protective of your feelings as it relates to sexual choices

Say yes to this program if you would like to:
• Understand the foundation of positive psychology and the tools that enhance resilience and well-being in college.
• Create daily practices and habits to grow and develop self-confidence, fulfillment and happiness.
• Become more self-aware and in tune with your mindset, thoughts and beliefs.
• Discover how to build on your strengths to find more meaning and engagement in your life.
• Learn ways to eat healthy and exercise in college to boost your energy and enhance your mental and physical health.
• Learn how to cultivate positive in-person relationships and connections to increase your overall happiness and health.
