Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Marches Through Gang War in Chicago to End Violence

I was forwarded this excellent story about members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity that marched through freezing rain and snow in Chicago to demand an end to the escalating gang violence in the Chatham neighborhood. By taking this action, the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha encouraged others to patronize the stores in Chatham, and encouraged the community to feel safe and comfortable in those areas. This is a perfect example of living the values of your organization.

Saying that you’re a member of a Greek letter organization on your resume just isn’t enough. The real question is, how did you make your community better (and in this case safer) as a result of you being there?
